Welcome!

I am an ecologist and educator working with Plant Protection and Quarantine in the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service at the US Department of Agriculture. There, I support international trade negotions that allow us to import and export agricultural plants that are free of pests and diseases. I'm also an Instructor of a Mushrooms, Molds, and Society class at George Mason University, and I'm an informal educator, leading lichen hikes for people of all ages. I also write about environmental risk, invasion biology, lichen ecology, and urban ecology. I hope that my page helps show you why lichens are intriguing, why conservation of urban natural lands is important, and why NJ adventures are awesome.
