I love being with the lives, lands, and waters that make up our planet. I thrilled to be an observer, photographer, walker, listeer, reader, writer, friend, parent, runner, bike rider, ecologist and educator. Currently, I work with the US Department of Agriculture, at the Natural Resources Conservation Service where I manage the Norman A. Berg National Plant Materials Center, where we do research to support food and fiber producers in improving the soil and water quality on the lands where they work. I also teach a Mushrooms, Molds, and Society class at George Mason University, and I lead lichen walks for people of all ages in the U.S. Northeast. I hope that my pages share info about me, why I think lichens are intriguing, and why taking good care of land is important.
